Objective

To find an elementary or middle school teaching position in order to fully utilize my experience, enthusiasm, and knowledge of technology to boost student academic achievement, enhance the learning process, and enrich the lives of children.  Technology has the potential to broaden student’s horizons and enable students to reach beyond socioeconomic or other disadvantages to achieve their goals and become empowered members of society.

Qualifications

Multiple Subject California Clear Credential, grades K-8.   Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis on child development, physiology of the brain and the psychology of education. Training in set up and management of Apple OSX Server and experience integrating technology into curriculum. Training in interpersonal communication, extensive health background and practical medical experience.  Extra coursework in technology, biology, ecology and environmental studies.

Experience

2005-2010~~Technology Coordinator~~Hobart Blvd. Elementary School~~LA, CA

  • Manage two computer labs and taught technology education and computer literacy to Kindergarten through 5th grades. Supervise teachers aides and student volunteers.
  • Set up and manage an Apple OSX Server and large network of 250+ school computers, Mac and PC.  Supervised and performed basic troubleshooting and maintenance for network.  Designed and maintain a school website, adhering to district guidelines for content and design.   • Designed and implemented a technology curriculum aligned with state standards for technology, including a unit on Internet safety.  Integrated technology curriculum into district mandated language arts and mathematics programs, and aligned with state standards in all content areas. Designed many web-based projects that tie in with thematic units of SRA Open Court.
  • Conduct regular professional development sessions for teachers on various computer applications and how to integrate technology into the curriculum. Work closely with administrators and colleagues to find ways to best serve the student and staff with regards to technology.
  • Conduct parent workshops to assist them in using technology to help their children achieve academic success.
  • Mentor new technology coordinators and elementary computer teachers and aides in the local district. Assist them in setting up their labs, as well as giving them tips, lesson plans and best practices.

  • Taught all content areas according to state and district standards. Used differentiated instruction and scaffolding to tailor instruction to individual learning needs.  Worked primarily with ESL students in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood.
  • Effectively implemented a structured writing program, Open Court and district mandated mathematics program in order to optimize student achievement. Used assessment results to guide instruction to address the various needs of individual students.
